(XX) stands for the ISO 3166 two-letter country code of the signatory using the DCN for their flight, with the exception of EL being used for Greece.

DIC Option

Additional Regulations / Instructions


For “Excluded Aerodromes / Areas“, “Air-to-Air Refueling Flights“, “Transport Helicopter Flights“, and “IATA-non-compliant Dangerous Goods” see the dedicated sections further down.


In case of dangerous goods transports, aircrews must always plan to fly a route over the sea. The overflight of Italian national territory, if indispensable, must be reduced to the minimum extent possible and avoiding the populated areas.

Formation flights are allowed with a maximum of three (3) aircraft.

AAR activities are possible only in published corridors (Italian AIP ENR 5.2.2.1).

 

Excluded Aerodromes

Roma Ciampino (LIRA), Roma Fiumicino (LIRF) and Milano Malpensa (LIMC) are for VIP use only.

A PPR must be always obtained in order to land on each Italian airfield.

Air-to-Air Refueling Flights (AAR)

AAR missions in transit phase with no AAR action in progress and/or no joined fighter aircraft present are considered ‘Transportation Missions’ of ‘Military Transport Aircraft’ acc. to Section 3 of the DIC TA and thus not subject to the implementation of its provisions (annual DCN published on DIC portal, and/or harmonized request procedure).

AAR activities are possible only in published corridors (Italian AIP ENR 5.2.2.1).

 

Transport Helicopter Flights

Transport helicopter missions are considered ‘Transportation Missions’ of ‘Military Transport Aircraft’ acc. to section 3 of the DIC TA and thus subject to the implementation of its provisions (annual DCN published on DIC portal, and/or harmonized request procedure).

 

IATA-non-compliant Dangerous Goods

The DIC TA DCN cannot be applied for ICAO/IATA-non-compliant Dangerous Goods, therefore, an appropriate request must be forwarded at least 5 working days prior to the flight date.
